A single-source information and communication tool on behalf of Whatcom County's unified response to COVID-19 is available online.
The WhatcomCOVID.com website is a repository of trusted sources of novel coronavirus information from the U.S. Centers of Disease Control and Prevention, the State Health Department, Whatcom County Health Department, as well as community COVID-related proclamations and updates.
News releases issued by the Health Department as well as Whatcom Unified Command COVID-19 are available on the new website. The information source supplements the Unified Command Whatcom Covid-19 Facebook page, which will be updated frequently.
WhatcomCOVID.com includes resources for families, regarding schools and childcare, as well as resources for businesses, restaurants and skilled nursing facilities.
The website includes the option to “subscribe" to receive news releases and updates. The communications team at Unified Command continues to develop the website.
Whatcom Unified Command is a unified response utilizing a template developed by the National Institute Management System (NIMS) that provides an organizational structure and coordinates participating agencies. The NIMS Incident Command system includes planning, logistics, public information, and a policy group including local elected officials. The objectives during Whatcom Unified's activation are to prevent and mitigate the spread of COVID-19, ensure care for the community's most vulnerable, ensure adequate resources for first responders, and to maintain essential services.
Those who wish to support the Whatcom Unified COVID-19 response or Emergency Operations Center capabilities are invited to email WUC_Donations@co.whatcom.wa.us.
