Recreation Northwest is now offering Outdoor Recreation & Nature Education programs for the public. Choose from a variety of beginner and intermediate level Classes & Tours of curated, outdoor educational experiences with small groups of people. Tours will be hosted on foot or bike to give locals, newcomers and visitors the inside scoop on the local parks, trails and waterways Bellingham has to offer.
“Pandemic Pivot” Executive Director, Todd Elsworth, exclaims, “We have witnessed resounding recognition for the value that the outdoors holds and the healing powers nature provides. As more people venture out into the “Frontcountry'' as well as deeper into the “Backcountry” we’re here to teach people the essentials— offering beginning and intermediate outdoor recreation skills for people and families to learn and enjoy adventures together.”
Adventures include biking Bellingham’s Greenways, day hikes to Woodstock Farm from Fairhaven and much more. Nature Immersion experiences teach people how to use their five senses to connect with nature, while learning how to identify native plants. Park Tours are by foot, bike or via shuttle to get to know Bellingham’s City Parks and the trails that connect them.
This move by the organization remains in line with its mission- “to promote outdoor recreation and bring people together to enjoy, preserve and improve the places where we play.”
