The Western Washington University women’s basketball program has set a six-game schedule with the team taking the court for the first time in the 2020-21 season this weekend.
Head coach Carmen Dolfo has announced the six-game slate, with a pair of games each against traditional Great Northwest Athletic Conference opponents Saint Martin’s University, Seattle Pacific University and Central Washington University.
WWU will play a home-and-home series in Bellingham Washington this Friday and Saturday vs. Saint Martin’s, opening the season Friday in Lacey at Marcus Pavilion and entertaining the Saints Saturday on WECU Court in Carver Gym. Both games vs. SMU are set to tip off at 6 pm. Due to GNAC protocols, no fans will be permitted to attend any of WWU’s home or away competitions this season.
The following week the Vikings host Seattle Pacific on Friday, March 5 in Carver Gym and travel to Seattle to play the Falcons on Saturday, March 6. Both games between WWU and SPU will feature a 5 pm tip-off.
The Vikings conclude the abbreviated season March 12-13 against in-state rival Central Washington University. Western hosts Central on Friday, March 12 and travels to play the Wildcats in Ellensburg on Saturday, March 13.
All games during the 2020-21 season will count towards the historical and statistical record for the program, which enters its 50th season of play. The games are not counted towards the conference standings, as the GNAC will not have a championship tournament in 2020-21.
With no fans allowed to attend home or away games due to GNAC mandates, all games can be followed via live webcast on YouTube. Links will be active at WWUVikings.com/WBB_Watch for all games, with Vikings TV bringing you the home game action from Carver Gym. Shawn Walli and Ben Bagley will have the call from inside Carver Gym. Live statistical updates can also be tracked in real time via WWUVikings.com/WBB_Stats.
