The Port of Bellingham 4th of July Festival is Coming

The Port of Bellingham and Bellingham Regional Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with Kulshan Brewing, are glad to announce the annual Port of Bellingham 4th of July Festival, Whatcom County’s largest, most popular Independence Day event, drawing celebrants from all over Washington State. The free festival will kick off at the Downtown Waterfront, with Kulshan Trackside as the official beer garden, kids’ activities and games at the Peter Paulson Stage, and a variety of food vendors at the Portal container village.

Starting at 2:00 p.m., enjoy a family-friendly assortment of yard games like giant Connect 4, bubble wands, and hula hoops. Inner Child Studios will be in the park providing FREE interactive activities as well as the Bellingham Circus Guild and facepainting by Cynthia Poppe with Wear Art Thou . You can also bring your bikes and ride the pump track, or play on the playground at Waypoint Park.

Kulshan’s Trackside Beer Garden opens at 11am, and is a family friendly location. Please note that the kids zone will be outside of the beer garden, and no alcohol may leave the beer garden.

There will be a fun mix of bands that will entertain the crowds from the Trackside Beer Garden stage, starting at 4pm. Hungry celebrants can purchase refreshments from local food vendors, including Hungry Street, Lumpia Luv, Simmering Tava, Sammies Vegan, and Kona Ice.

Festivities will peak at dusk, around 10:30 PM, with Whatcom County’s largest, most impressive fireworks show, thanks to the Port of Bellingham, this year’s title sponsor.

About the Bellingham Regional Chamber of Commerce:
The Bellingham Regional Chamber of Commerce has been serving the local business community for over 100 years as the voice of business in Bellingham and Whatcom County. The Chamber is a nonprofit membership organization that promotes a strong local economy, provides programs and events for its member businesses and facilitates factual dialog between business, government and the community. A strong Chamber means a strong business community, planned economic growth and sustained quality of life.

About Kulshan Brewing:
Founded in 2012 by Bellingham native David Vitt, Kulshan Brewing is one of the fastest-growing breweries in Whatcom County, highly regarded for making delicious and well-balanced ales and lagers. Just one year after opening, Kulshan doubled the size of their brewhouse to 15 barrels in order to keep up with demand. In 2015 they opened a second brewery, affectionately named "K2", in Bellingham with a 30-barrel brewhouse. Kulshan has a strong following for their extensive line of award-winning beers, including Sunnyland IPA, Bastard Kat IPA, Red Cap Irish Red Ale, Heliotrope IPA and much more, plus a host of seasonal, specialty and limited-release beers.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
