Celebrating 10 years of Electrifying Entertainment with a Kaboom!

On Saturday, October 1st, 2022, the SPARK Museum of Electrical Invention presents Doktor Kaboom and the Wheel of Science to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Museum’s signature MegaZapper Electrical Show.

SPARK Museum of Electrical Invention has been a premier Whatcom County attraction for locals and tourists alike since 2012. A world class collection of artifacts relating to the history of electricity and invention helps the Museum tell a powerful story of progress, but it’s not just your average museum.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of another electrifying part of the Museum experience you wouldn’t want to miss. The MegaZapper, a 10 foot tall Tesla Coil that shoots out 9 and a half foot lightning bolts, creates an opportunity for the community to experience science like never before. SPARK Museum celebrates engagement and interaction for a truly hands-on approach to history and science. Through this approach the Museum has been a constant source of education, entertainment and inspiration for the last decade and The MegaZapper has been a huge part of that.

“Seattle has The Space Needle, and Bellingham has The MegaZapper… We’re just a little louder. We couldn’t think of a more dramatic way to get our visitors excited about science,” says president and CEO John Jenkins. “We wanted a signature demonstration, something grand, dramatic and unforgettable.”

To celebrate this special anniversary, the SPARK Museum will be joined by Doktor Kaboom for an evening filled with science, comedy, and of course, Kaboom! Doktor Kaboom performs original interactive science comedy shows for audiences of all ages. Creatively blending theater arts with the wonders of scientific exploration, Doktor Kaboom keeps his crowds riveted with interest and rolling with laughter. Join SPARK Museum and Kaboom for a side-splitting journey of increasingly spectacular (and often successful) science experiments designed to involve, excite, educate, and entertain, in celebration of a spectacular piece of Bellingham history.

The event will take place at the Museum on October 1st, 2022, at 5:30 pm, and tickets are $10 for youth and $15 for adults, and available at www.sparkmuseum.org

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
