BAAY Presents: Pippi Longstocking

Bellingham Arts Academy for Youth presents Pippi Longstocking! This production features classic Pippi tales, as well as entirely new adventures, with original music by Soren Ficklin and Evan Ingalls. In this heartwarming story, we are introduced to Pippi Longstocking — a freckle-faced redhead with superhuman strength and seemingly boundless confidence. Pippi and her pet monkey, Mr. Nilsson, gets caught in a storm at sea and they wash ashore near the Villa Villekulla. Pippi meets members of the town and inspires them to embrace all wonderfully weird sides of themselves, to get off their phones, and to connect with the world around them.

Pippi Longstocking is a musical about self-discovery, friendship, and finding your inner joy. Performances run for four weekends from May 10 to June 2 at the BAAY Theatre and feature student performers ages 9-12. Tickets and more information at baay.org.

Location: BAAY Theatre  |  1059 N State St. Bellingham, WA 98225

About BAAY: Founded in 2006, Bellingham Arts Academy for Youth (BAAY) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching children’s lives through the exploration of the arts. We believe that the arts are an essential component of education. We enroll over 1500 children ages 5-17 annually in our EduArts and Theatre programs, and provide over $40,000 per year in tuition waivers to remove financial barriers to participation. Learn how you can support the sustainability of this work at baay.org/support.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
