8th Annual Bellingham SeaFeast Celebrates Seafood, Maritime Heritage, and Community Connection

Bellingham SeaFeast, a free annual celebration of maritime heritage and local waterfront culture, is set to return for its 8th year on Saturday and Sunday, Oct 5 & 6, 2024, on the historic Bellingham waterfront. Since 2016, Bellingham SeaFeast has become a cornerstone of local waterfront culture with family-friendly activities, delicious seafood, vibrant entertainment, and a window into Bellingham’s waterfront activities. Some activities do require tickets and/or registration which will be available at www.bellinghamseafeast.org

Event Highlights:

  • Seafood Extravaganza: Indulge in a wide variety of fresh seafood dishes with over 16 food vendors, most featuring seafood including salmon, cod, crab, oysters, scallops and more. Watch locally caught salmon cooked on a traditional Lummi Nation firepit and enjoy a plate of this much anticipated Northwest fare. Enjoy a brew with a view in our Beer, Wine & Cider Garden and kids, and adults alike, will love our Sundaes on Sunday Root Beer Garden presented by Mallard Ice Cream. And don’t forget to bring seafood home for later from Bellingham Dockside Market offering seafood straight from local fishing families.

  • Boathouse Experience: SeaFeast is honored to host White Swan Environmental in the Squalicum Boathouse for both Saturday & Sunday where they will showcase a reef net exhibit, movies and their 13 moons planetarium. This special engagement allows visitors to learn about their family's history, mission, and origins and what they are planning for the future.

  • Speakers at the Working Waterfront: Hear from maritime leaders, authors and poets as they share their ocean-inspired experience at the Working Waterfront Coalition office. Speakers include Rena Priest, Washington State Poet Laureate and Lummi Nation member; Susan Conrad, an author and kayaker; Tom Crestodina, fisherman and illustrator; David Neuman with EVOOGUY discussing high-quality olive oils and more. Registration and full schedule for these sessions will be available soon on SeaFeast’s website.

  • Boat Rides & Industry Tours: Experience the waterfront in a new way with a boat ride around the bay with San Juan Cruises or tour All American Marine’s facility in Squalicum Harbor to learn about some of the most innovative enterprises in their industries. Tickets available on SeaFeast’s website.

  • Live Entertainment: Enjoy performances from local musicians and entertainers throughout the day. The main stage will feature live music, cultural performances, traditional maritime songs, as well as an informative panel featuring local government officials discussing the current and future evolution of Bellingham’s waterfront. The U.S. Coast Guard will also be doing a rescue at sea demo which visitors can watch from the shores of Bellingham Bay. See the full lineup on SeaFeast’s website.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
