Oysters and Seafood Itinerary

If you're in Bellingham and Whatcom County, that means you're in easy reach of some of the country's best oysters and seafood! Stay in Whatcom County and immerse yourself in the taste of the Pacific Northwest and the Salish Sea with this two‐day culinary adventure.

Take a drive down scenic Chuckanut Drive and shuck your own oysters at Taylor Shellfish or stop at Oyster Bar for a premier dining experience. After, check in at the iconic Hotel Bellwether for more seafood options at Lighthouse Grill. For a night out on the town, head to Rock and Rye Oyster House in downtown Bellingham.

Take a scenic drive! Chuckanut Drive is one of Washington State’s original scenic byways and is a great option for driving north into Bellingham.

Also known as WA State Highway 11, Chuckanut Drive delivers 20 miles of incredible views looking out to the San Juan Islands, Olympic Mountains, and Lummi Island.

If you need to stretch your feet, pull off at Larrabee State Park (the first state park in Washington!) and enjoy more epic water views.

As you drive down Chuckanut Drive, check out Taylor Shellfish Farm for raw oysters, shucked, or shuck-your-own on their heated seaside patio!

Taylor Shellfish is also known for being the largest Manila clam producer in the United States and growing some of the largest oysters around.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
