On Wednesday, August 16 Boundary Bay Brewery & Bistro will launch fundraising efforts to support restaurant, bar and hospitality workers displaced by the devastating wildfires that have impacted West Maui communities from Lahaina to Kapalua.
Starting on Wednesday, Boundary Bay is partnering with local distributor, Walton Beverage, to sell pints and cans of Coconut Hiwa Porter from Maui Brewing Co. All proceeds from sales will be donated directly to Kokua Restaurant & Hospitality Fund.
“Our hearts are with Maui. We cannot begin to fathom the pain their
community feels,” says Janet Lightner, Owner and General Manager of Boundary Bay Brewery. “We hope fundraising efforts from the Mainland can begin to help provide the aid the people of Maui desperately need.”
Garrett Marrero, Founder/CEO of Maui Brewing Company and leader in the Craft Beer industry, has been leading stabilizing and recovery efforts.
“Ed Bennett [Owner of Boundary Bay] and I have a great level of respect
for Garrett [Marrero] and his absolute dedication to the Maui community
is unparalleled,” says Lightner.
Boundary Bay owners Janet Lightner and Ed Bennett were wed in Maui in 2018 and held they’re rehearsal dinner at Maui Brewing Company's
facility on Maui.
“In times of tragedy, we know all of Whatcom County will join us in supporting a community beyond our own,” says Lightner.
