As of March 9, 2020, the Hertz Trail at Lake Whatcom Park is now open. The Hertz Trail was closed last week around the 1.25-mile marker due to an active slide. Slide activity has stopped and Whatcom County Parks crews have completed clearing the slide materials from the trail. The trail is now fully open and unrestricted.
The Hertz Trail at Lake Whatcom Park is closed at the 1.25-mile trail marker due to an active slide and debris on the trail. Park staff will monitor the situation daily and cleanup will begin when it is safe. The trail will remain closed until further notice. For your safety, do not pass trail closed signs.
