Everson / Nooksack

Located in the fertile Nooksack Valley, these sister cities are on State Highways 544 and 9 along the Nooksack River and about nine miles from the US-Canada border.

With a combined population under 3,000, these low-key rural communities are a major part of the region’s agricultural heritage. Berries, dairy cattle, carrots, potatoes, and a variety of specialty produce are raised in the fields surrounding these communities. Some of the farms are even open seasonally for visitors to buy fresh produce and products.

The name of the valley honors the Nooksack Tribe, which has 2,000 enrolled members. Their ancestral homeland originally occupied the watershed of the Nooksack River, the land surrounding Mt. Baker, out to Bellingham Bay, and extended farther into Canada, north of what is now Lynden, Wash.

Samson Estates Winery is an artisan family-owned business, producing unique and flavorful fruit and dessert wines.

Stop by for a tasting or purchase bottles from their on-site shop.

During the summer months, this location also hosts outdoor concerts and festivals. Check their calendar to see if an event is happening soon!

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
