Travelogue: Hiking the Medieval Villages of Georgia and the Caucasus Mountains

Join Bellingham Parks & Recreation for a FREE presentation with guest speaker Ken Harrison in the Rotunda Room of Old City Hall. Join us for a travelogue through the medieval villages of Svaneti which is probably the most beautiful region of Georgia. All those stunning photos of historical stone villages, lush green valleys and snow-covered mountains…. most of them were made here.

The development of tourism in Georgia was for a long time hampered by instability, but those times seem to be finally over, and the country is quickly opening up to the world.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
