XORA Fundraising Gala

Join Us for a Night of Celebration: Xw’lemi Outrigger Racing Association’s Gala Fundraiser & Silent Auction

The Xw’lemi Outrigger Racing Association (XORA) invites you to an unforgettable evening of culture, community and competition at our Gala Fundraiser & Silent Auction on March 22, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. This event will help raise the necessary funds to send our paddlers—25 youth (ages 6-18) and 20 adults (ages 19-65)—to compete in one of the most exciting outrigger canoe races of the season, the Talifit Bora Race, which takes place April 10-12 in Tahiti.

We are aiming to raise $40,000 to $85,000 to cover travel, entry fees and other expenses. With your support, we can ensure that every paddler has the opportunity to represent our community and culture on the water in this exciting cultural and athletic exchange.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
