Orthodox Christian Women Writing - Elizabeth Scott Tervo & Carrie Frederick Frost

Join us in the Readings Gallery to welcome Carrie Frederick Frost and Elizabeth Scott Tervo to delve into the future of women's roles in the Orthodox Church! Church of Our Granddaughters is a visionary work that looks two generations into the future regarding women's roles in the Orthodox Church. Eve in the Time Machine's poetry explores walls and divisions, mediated by memory, drawing on ancient wisdom, and predicated on an unhappy encounter with Glasnost-era Soviet power.

Carrie Frederick Frost, PhD, is an Orthodox Christian theologian, Assistant Professor of Religion and Culture at Western Washington University, and lives in Bellingham. Elizabeth Scott Tervo is a Presbytera (priest's wife) in the Greek Orthodox Church. Her memoir The Sun Does Not Shine Without You appeared in the country of Georgia in 2021.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
