Village Books Presents H A Byrd and Her Novel Fantasy Aru’s Realm

In a magical world’s era of steam trains and carriage horses, the misfit Aru is thrust onto a hero's journey. But her story is like no other. Come learn how color, texture, and perspective play on the conceit of an author’s winged imagination, and how, in a world without war, an overblown thirst for power puts world upon world at risk.

Author Harriet Arden Byrd is also known to the Bellingham community as Catherine Wesley. A graduate of Fairhaven College, she lives as an adventurer, grounded in traditions rooted in the natural world. Like her character Aru, she's been drawn by reindeer sledge through the snowy mountains and her campfire has been circled by wolves. She lives in a small house full of family love and animals by the shores of the Salish Sea.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
