Menopause Movement Workshop

Menopause is a natural process and part of the journey is to become better acquainted with your body, mind and inner knowing. As we transition through each stage, we all experience it differently and need various types of support.

Kelli Nickisch (RYT-200, Menopause Yoga accredited teacher) will share yoga poses, breathing techniques and lifestyle changes that nourish our nervous system and ease many of the unwanted symptoms of this life change. Brandis Gunderson (MPT, PYT, and Ayurvedic Educator) will discuss the timeless wisdom of Ayurveda, a 5,000-year-old system of consciousness-based healing originating from India that is still relevant today. Ayurveda provides a holistic pathway to achieving greater health and vitality by promoting mental, physical, and emotional balance. In this introductory session, we will talk about our unique mind-body constitution, known as doshas. We'll cover how to use Ayurveda to reduce midlife stress and offer some simple, daily practices.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
