The Downtown Bellingham Partnership (DBP) has announced the artist lineup for its signature outdoor concert series, Downtown Sounds. Now in its 14th year, the 2018 Downtown Sounds series returns with last year’s expanded layout; featuring an improved beer garden, a revamped stage location, larger presence on Bay and Prospect streets and additional family activities during the event.
The 2018 artist lineup includes both new and returning performers, offering music spanning different genres on each date.
2018 Lineup:
- July 11: Acorn Project w/ Hot House Jazz Band
- July 18: Petty or Not w/ Dirty Ferns
- July 25: Tatanka w/ Mr. Feelgood and the Firm Believers
- August 1: MarchFourth w/ Robt Sarazin Blake & The Letters
- August 8: Klozd Sirkut w/ Mōtus
Downtown Sounds take place each Wednesday from July 11 through August 8, with doors to the outdoor concert area opening at 5:30 p.m. Each Downtown Sounds will include new food options, the Haggen Northwest Fresh Beer + Wine Garden with expanded beverage options, and the Judd & Black Family Alley featuring family-friendly activities. The event is free and open to the public, with the beer and wine garden restricted to those age 21 and over.
“We’ve got a great lineup and amazing vendors planned for this year’s Downtown Sounds,” Lindsey Payne Johnstone, Events Director for the Downtown Bellingham Partnership, said. “It's easily our most popular event and we’re excited about another great season.”
Downtown Sounds rely on many community partners, volunteers and sponsors for support. The 2018 Downtown Sounds is led by Sanitary Service Company, the event’s premier sponsor. Additional support comes from Haggen, Judd & Black Appliance, Favinger Plumbing, Groove Merchant Northwest, Boundary Bay Brewery, Freeland Engineering, SPARK Museum and the City of Bellingham.
“Part of what makes Sounds so incredible is the fact it’s a free event for our community,” Payne Johnstone said. Downtown Sounds is an amazing gathering place for our community and we rely on our sponsors and supporters to make that happen.”
