The unique history and beauty of Point Roberts has always made it a favorite destination for visitors to Bellingham and Whatcom County. It is separated from the rest of Washington State by 23 driving miles through British Columbia. Skip the drive and instead access Point Roberts by small plane, charter service, or private boat.
Located on the southern part of Canada's Tsawwassen Peninsula, Point Roberts is a 4.9-square-mile exclave. This area became part of the U.S. when it was discovered that the land extended south of the 49th parallel, the official boundary line drawn to separate the U.S. and British territories in 1846.
Today, about 1,000 people call "the Point" their home year-round. This community is roughly an hour from Bellingham (depending on border wait times), 30 minutes by car from Vancouver, and a 10-minute drive from the Tsawwassen ferry dock that links the mainland to Vancouver Island and Victoria, B.C.

Boating is central to the life here where the marine atmosphere colors much of the local activity. A marina, yacht club, and wide variety of marine services offer virtually everything a boater could need, including a head start to the San Juans, Gulf Islands, and some of the finest fishing, sailing and cruising in the Northwest.
In addition to the outdoors, there are restaurants, taverns, and a golf course. Visit the Point Roberts Chamber of Commerce website for even more ideas!
