Bellingham International Airport Adds New Seasonal Destination

A Southwest Airlines (NYSE: LUV) aircraft begins scheduled operations to Denver International Airport (DEN) from the Bellingham International Airport (BLI) for the first time today as the airport inaugurates the new, seasonal Saturday-only service. The new, nonstop seasonal Denver route joins Southwest Airlines’ daily service to Las Vegas and Oakland while offering connections onward into the extensive Southwest Airlines network.

The new Saturday-only nonstop flights are aboard Southwest’s comfortable Boeing 737-700 jet. The occasion marks the first time Southwest Airlines has operated the Denver route from Bellingham (BLI). and offers “heart” to passengers looking for great value and customer service in travel.

“We are thrilled Southwest Airlines is adding another nonstop destination out of Bellingham International Airport,” said Port Commission President Michael Shepard. “Southwest consistently ranks among the best airlines in the world, and BLI is a cost-effective and convenient alternative to YVR and SEA. We will continue to work with Southwest to add additional flights and service destinations.”

Passengers and other dignitaries were greeted with a festive gate area and other sweet treats commemorating the special event. The seasonal, Saturday-only flight will operate through Nov. 4, 2023.

“In addition to our everyday one-stop and connecting service between Bellingham and Denver, we’re pleased to offer this additional time-saving access on Saturdays this summer not only to bring a Denver arrival faster, but also to create additional connecting opportunities onto many of the 300+ flights a day our Denver schedule offers to 90+ cities,” said Adam Decaire, SVP of Network Planning & Network Operations Control. “By the same token, faster access on Saturdays to Whatcom County from more of our route map is an attractive option for travelers who start their summer journeys to the Pacific Northwest on Saturdays this summer.”

Tickets are available now only at Southwest.com or by contacting your local travel agent.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
