Bellingham and Whatcom County breweries continue to bring home awards. To date, the region's 15 breweries have received at least 55 medals from seven 2018 beer competitions. Three additional honors bring the total awards to 58 for the year, making the region one of the top craft beer destinations in Washington State. With a population of 85,000, Bellingham is located in the upper northwest corner of Washington State near the Canadian border. The Bellingham region is widely known as an outdoor adventure and recreation haven for its proximity to Mount Baker and the Salish Sea.
