BAAY Presents: Beetlejuice Jr.

Bellingham Arts Academy for Youth presents Beetlejuice Jr! Lydia Deetz is a strange and unusual teenager, still grieving the loss of her mother and obsessed with the whole “being dead thing.” Lucky for Lydia, she and her father move to a new house haunted by a recently deceased couple and Beetlejuice, a delightful demon with a real zest for life. When Lydia calls on Beetlejuice to scare away anyone with a pulse, this double-crossing specter shows his true stripes, unleashing a (Nether)world of pandemonium.

Note: This performance is rated PG-13. Parental guidance is strongly recommended.

Featuring student performers ages 13-17, Beetlejuice Jr is directed by Kaleb Van Rijswijck and Avery Wisner, with music direction by Dylan Cisneros. Performances run March 7-9 and 14-16 at the BAAY Theatre. Tickets and more information at baay.org.

About BAAY: Founded in 2006, Bellingham Arts Academy for Youth (BAAY) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching children’s lives through the exploration of the arts. We believe that the arts are an essential component of education. We enroll over 1500 children ages 5-17 annually in our EduArts and Theatre programs, and each year provide over $65,000 in tuition waivers and discounts to remove financial barriers to participation. Learn how you can support the sustainability of this work at baay.org/support.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
