Bellingham SeaFeast is the only Whatcom County festival held during National Seafood Month, and the only non-profit promoting and hosting year-round workshops, educational programs, and events that promote and rejoice in our working waterfront. Our mission is to celebrate our:

You will leave with a lasting impression and insider knowledge of our little corner of the Pacific Northwest. An increasing interest in our maritime and fishing sector—and its significant economic impact—led to the creation of SeaFeast.

Originally founded on a three-year seed grant from the City of Bellingham Tourism Commission (travel and tourism tax allotments), this signature festival on Bellingham Bay launched in 2016. Now, SeaFeast is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit, supported both by public and private entities throughout Whatcom County and the Pacific Northwest. The City and Port of Bellingham continue their exciting collaboration to redevelop and to intentionally connect downtown with our thriving working waterfront.

The Bellingham/Whatcom County region has three legacy industries at its roots: Agriculture, Forestry and Wood, and Commercial Fishing/Maritime Trades. Bellingham SeaFeast showcases the maritime sector and its booming economic impact locally, regionally, and internationally. The festival operates through a dedicated Board of Directors, a small staff, and scores of committed volunteers. Additionally, planners have collaborated with stakeholders throughout Whatcom County to support that vision with this festival.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
