Bellingham is the southern port of the Alaska Ferry, which departs from the Bellingham Cruise Terminal in Fairhaven (I-5 Exit 250) on a varied schedule depending on time of year.

The ferries of the Alaska Marine Highway make up a large part of Alaska's highway system, covering 3,500 miles of coastline and providing service to over 30 communities that stretch from Bellingham, WA to Dutch Harbor in the Aleutian Chain. We offer a rare opportunity to experience Alaska's rugged landscape and diverse culture. Whether your interest is in bike trails, secluded coves for kayaking, hiking trails or camping, the Alaska state ferries are the perfect way to experience each region and the communities that populate Alaska's diverse and scenic coastline.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
